The Interview Process

Turning Military Experience Into Career Success

For more than a decade, Russell Dawe served as owner and CEO of Careers Northwest Academy, a Washington State licensed private vocational school. During that time, more than 20,000 students participated in employment and career development programs.

Early in the school's history, one problem became clear: many highly qualified graduates struggled during interviews.

To address this challenge, Russell developed a structured interview training program that became one of the Academy's most successful educational offerings.

Students participated in mock interviews that were professionally videotaped. The recordings were then reviewed in the classroom as educational tools, allowing students to observe both strengths and areas for improvement. This process helped students build confidence, improve communication skills, and develop professional interview techniques.

Russell taught students to think of an interview much like a jury trial:

Opening Statement — Introduce yourself and establish credibility.

Present the Evidence — Demonstrate your skills, accomplishments, and experience through specific examples.

Closing Statement — Clearly explain why you are the best candidate for the position.

The results were remarkable. Careers Northwest Academy ultimately achieved a placement rate exceeding 96%, helping thousands of students successfully transition into new careers.

Today, Veterans4Veterans is proud to continue this legacy.

As Founder and CEO of Veterans4Veterans, Russell believes that those who have served our country deserve access to high-quality career preparation resources. The Interview Process course is being offered free of charge to veterans and their immediate family members as part of our mission to support successful career transitions and lifelong opportunities.

Whether you are entering the workforce for the first time, changing careers, or

preparing for advancement, mastering the interview process can be one of the most valuable investments you make in your future.

Because getting the interview may open the door—but succeeding in the interview changes lives.

The Interview is very much like a Jury Trial. Every trial starts with the attorneys giving their Opening Statements. Then they Present Evidence to the Jury (the employer in this case). Then they finalize with a Closing Statement.

It is the exact structure of an Interview and we will have live online mock interviews!

Most Interviews are about 10 questions or even less. Yet there are 100's to choose from. This is where you must be ready to answer them all and present your evidence on why you are the best candidate for that position.

This is the lasting impression before the jury retires to make a decision. So it is for your future employer. This is also a chance to "fix" mistakes or to present some important evidence that did not get served. This is also where you get to ask questions. You had better have some and the right  ones!
